SLIP

SLIP Basics

• SLIP stands for Serial Line Internet Protocol
• Usually switched modems are involved, leased line usage possible too
• OS/400 supports SLIP for TCP/IP connections only
• Useful to attach single remote PC's directly to AS/400
• It is a layer 2 protocol, using point-to-point ASYNC connections
